If you are stuck in a dead end career or only looking to try new Careers, you may feel it is too much hard work discovering new Career Choices. It can always feel overwhelming and quite a daunting task. Lots of people work the same unsatisfactory job on a daily basis without ever giving a thought to New Careers. Our current economy isn’t too hospitable to New Careers, but that mustn’t deter you. If you’re depressed at work it has a negative effect on your life outside of work too, it can leave you depressed and fatigued. So it’s time you thought honestly about Career Choices available to you and we’re going to show you what assistance is available.

Where to start with finding Careers depends completely on your circumstances. If you are in a situation where you know what you want to do, then uncovering that new career is just within reach. You can use resources such as your local Job Centres to browse any advertised positions and also to seek guidance from one of their advisors. The job searching features can also be used from the Job Centre website and others including the directgov website which gives help writing CVs and letters and provides excellent advice on Careers. It can also a good idea to keep an eye the local newspapers for any upcoming openings and quite often you can find job fairs to go see, where you can speak to actual people about the jobs you’re looking for.

Now of course all of the above is all good if you know what you’re looking for, but for those of us who don’t, there is plenty available to assist. If you are genuinely at a loss on what to do or not positive on what you are skilled at, it may be a good idea to get some counselling. There are plenty of Careers advisors out there who will speak with you and discuss your options, again the Job Centres can assist here, but it may also be worthwhile looking into a more skilled private councillor. A Careers councillor can put you through several tests to see what sort of role you are suited too and then discuss how you can take action on it. Similarly you can take these kinds of tests online at certain websites, so if you’re a little tight scheduled, checking these out can be an easier solution than trying to see an actual person. For obvious reasons however, we do suggest that if you can, make the effort to see someone, as only using the online services will only put forward suggestions, but will never really be able to discuss what you want to do.

Last, but not least, if all other options fail, it’s often a good idea to simply talk things over with friends or family. Straightforward words of advice may be all you need to achieve that inspiration for finding New Careers. The people close to you may have already made Career Choices and can let you know how they went about it and what to stay clear of. The most important thing to remember out of all of this is that you don’t have to go about finding New Careers alone, don’t be afraid to ask for a helping hand, there’s plenty of it available!
