Identity theft professionals know the phenomenon called RFID encoding well.  It is the source of their rise to infamy.  Radio frequency identification is known as RFID.  On the back of most credit cards, there is an electronically encoded strip called RFID.  Your life history may be on that strip and is the target of identity theft professionals everywhere.

When dining at restaurants because you had a money saving coupon, please be sure to watch the waiter.  He may be carrying a device that may read and store credit card strips.  If he swipes your card, your identity has been compromised.  When traveling abroad, be especially careful.  Tourists worldwide are victimized every day.  It is important to guard your credit cards.  Learn to observe the card readers in automatic teller machines (ATMs) and gas stations.  If there is an extra side piece on the machine, it has probably been altered by a thief.  Do not let the store clerk anywhere every put your card below the register.  He may have a reader below the counter. Your identity may have just been stolen below the counter.

But the most startling technological advance now enables criminals to simply pass you in a mall and steal your identity.  It is important to combat these incidents.  What is a business owner to do?  There is an invention called RFID proof credit card holders.  The inside is lined in a metallic material.  The devices cannot penetrate the protection.  Some wallets also feature RFID protection.  If it is not listed as RFID protection, it is not.  No matter what type of business entity you operate, you cannot protect yourself enough.  The other important thing to do is to go over each credit card charge monthly.  And you should report any fraudulent activity promptly to the proper authorities.
